Summer Olympics, also known as the Summer Olympic Games or the Games of the Olympiad, is a multi-sport event that occurs every four years at different locations worldwide. The first Olympics was held in Athens, Greece, and had just 245 participants from 14 countries, of which 200 were Greeks.
This year, the Summer Olympics are held in Paris and will begin on the 26th of July and will go on till the 11th of August. Paris is the second city, after London to host this spectacle thrice. Even the spectators will be allowed to attend the games, which was stopped for a few years because of the pandemic.
The 2024 Summer Olympics is planned for 32 sports: gymnastics, volleyball, badminton, archery, tennis, swimming, diving and more.
The mascot for the Paris Olympics 2024 is Phryge, shaped after the traditional Phrygian caps worn by French people in older times. The mascot is believed to represent the allegorical figures of the French Republic.
