Halloween season is almost here, and very soon, it will be time for the spooky festivities to begin. Several mythological and supernatural creatures have inspired Halloween costumes or decorations over the years, like vampires and werewolves, or witches and ghosts. Today, I will be talking about a creature that has inspired its own genre in popular culture, the undead we know as zombies.
In simple terms, a zombie is a corpse that comes to life, either through black magic or scientific reasons like an infection of some kind. Zombie origin traces back to African culture, more precisely Haitian folklore. And modern interpretations can be attributed to the 1968 film “Night of the Living Dead” where zombies were shown as creatures attacking and eating living beings.
