Just seven days left to one of the most important festivals in China, the Lunar New Year, heralding the Year of the Wood-Snake. Asians typically follow the lunar calendar, instead of the standard Gregorian calendar, which is why Chinese New Year falls on different days each year, mainly between 21st January and 20th February.
Every year, people immerse themselves in the festivities and traditional customs pertaining to the Chinese New Year, which starts at least two weeks before the main day. The celebrations honor the deities and ancestors with grand fireworks to ward off evil spirits.
